Armistice ceremony details

The annual Armistice ceremony in the Chesterfield FC Memorial Garden will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, November 10.

The marking of the sacrifice of the 18 players and officials from the club who died in the wars of the last century traditionally happens at 3pm. That time is chosen as ‘kick-off time’ to reflect the fact the servicemen were footballers.

With the first-team travelling for the game at Torquay on Armistice Day, the early kick-off allows players and management to show their respects.

The short ceremony will see wreaths laid on behalf of the club and the current players as well as from supporters and the Community Trust. Anyone associated with the club as well as the general public are welcome to attend the short ceremony and lay their own tributes.
