Welcome to our activity pages. We have been offering football coaching for many years; firstly as Football in the Community and since 2010 as the registered charity – Chesterfield FC Community Trust. We use our skill and expertise in sports development, sports coaching and education to provide a quality and varied programme of sports and activities.

Regular participation in sport and physical activity has many benefits for people of all ages; it can help to improve health, mental wellbeing and is a great way to socialise and make new friends.

Department Objective

“To provide inclusive opportunities, in particular for young people, to engage in sports participation to improve their quality of life.”

This project has expanded enormously over the last two years but has also benefited from providing a top quality product. The curriculum based mulit-sport activities offer PE sessions that fully meet Ofsted standards both in delivery and wider administration. Our senior coaches are all AfPE level 3 qualified. Over all our projects we engage with more than 60 local schools.

Spireites Sports Club started out as a small group at the Hub and has grown rapidly into a project with various hubs and catering for different groups too. We have our regular St Mary’s offer, which takes place every holiday day, encouraging fun, friendship and sports. In addition, we have a Girls Soccer School, a Pan-Disability Soccer School and Roadshows across the county, as far as Bamford and as close to home as Grangewood. It’s all-inclusive so that everyone has the opportunity to take part.

This Trust’s football development scheme is run in partnership with the Club’s academy to identify potential in the Trust’s schools, extra-curriculum activities and grassroots partners. The training is a relatively low cost addition for youngsters usually with local junior clubs. The model uses existing Trust and club coaches, so benefiting employment opportunities while keeping overheads low. In the first few months, several players graduated to the full academy programme.

Matchday Activities

The Club and Trust benefit from a relatively new stadium and the opportunities this has brought to both. This has also meant more fans at matches particularly youngsters and families. There is now a programme of events on matchday to enhance the experience. This includes mascots, flag-bearing and competitions. The Trust also co-ordinates special match events as well as ticket deals with schools and partners.
