Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is hosted every May by the Mental Health Foundation. Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 will take place from May 15-21 with the theme of Anxiety. The annual event is an opportunity for us to focus on achieving good mental health. The event has grown to become one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and globally.

Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. Focusing on anxiety for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week will increase people’s awareness and understanding of anxiety by providing information on the things that can help prevent it from becoming a problem. At the same time, we will keep up the pressure to demand change – making sure that improving mental health is a key priority for the government and society as a whole.

As well as the national events, Derbyshire County Council been working with local partners in Chesterfield to support ‘Mental Health Awareness Week 2023’ and incorporate the theme of ‘Anxiety’. They have arranged free virtual and face to face sessions and activities throughout Mental Health Awareness week, please see the timetable below.
