World Menopause Day sees launch of menopause policy

On World Menopause Day, Chesterfield FC and Chesterfield FC Community Trust are proud to launch their menopause policy for all staff.

Over 900,000 women have left work due to menopause symptoms and recognising the support women may need and raising awareness is key to ensuring women between the age of 50 and 64 can continue to thrive in their careers.

Despite the stigma around menopause improving in recent years, it is still increasingly important to emphasise the places where women can get help and support.

The Trust encourages employees to have open and honest discussions about the menopause through their line management and regular supervision.

Becks White, youth engagement officer at the Trust, said: “It’s important that businesses recognise the need to have this policy and supports women through what can be a very challenging time in our lives.

“From my personal experience the changes are overwhelming, including, lack of confidence, brain fog, hot flushes and raised anxiety to name but a few.”

Darren Parkinson, facilities manager at the Trust, highlighted the importance of taking menopause seriously, saying: “My role is to ensure the facility can be adapted to employees’ individual needs, and raise awareness and understanding amongst the wider workforce, particularly as we are a male-dominant environment.”

Three quarters of all women will go through menopause symptoms with those between the ages of 45 and 55 the most likely to experience it.

The latest training for staff has been announced today by The Learning Curve Group: https://courses.learningcurvegroup.co.uk/menopause-launch/?gsource=menopauseemail.

Trust and club staff are enrolling onto this course and will spread their learning throughout the workforce and beyond.
