Vacancy for youth engagement role

The Boots on Ground youth engagement project is expanding. It is a well-established community project, working alongside partnerships with Chesterfield Borough Council, children’s services and Chesterfield Police.

We currently cover Chesterfield town centre, with a team of staff out on the ground on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, from 6pm to 10pm.

We patrol the town centre, Queen’s Park and West Bars areas, engaging and building relationships with young people with the aim to cut ASB (Anti-social behaviour) and criminal damage. Looking out for the wellbeing of young people. We aim to mirror this project in Staveley, You may be put on shifts in either area.
You will never work alone.

DBS check – you must go through our process even if you hold a current DBS.
Youth work background is desirable.
Safeguarding training is desirable.
Work as part of a team.
Must be fit and able to walk for four-hour shifts.
Must be willing to work in all weathers.
Good communicator, confident enough to approach groups.
Must have good basic English writing skills (you may be required to write-up end of shift reports).
Flexibility – you may be asked to cover shifts.
Training will be provided.
Job Type: Zero hours contract
Contract length: six months
Salary: £15-£18 per hour
