Women at the Game fixture this weekend

Saturday’s game at home to Solihull Moors is the club’s annual Women at the Game fixture.

The Trust works with Women at the Game and Her Game Too to promote female involvement in football.

Women and girls’ inclusion officer Alyss Jackson explained what the plans are for this weekend’s fixture.

She said: “It will involve as many ladies as we can get to come down to the stadium and talk about football and get involved.

“We also have all our women’s teams coming down to watch the game and Georgia Ball, a referee in the WSL, is also coming along.

“The Community Trust staff and all the female supporters of the club will be involved as much as possible.”

On changes to women’s football over the past few years, Alyss said: “I think there’s so many more opportunities out there now for females in the sport.

“Off the back of the previous Euros success, there are so many more people that want to get involved and want to play football.

“It’s truly great to see and we want as many women as possible involved with Chesterfield FC and football in general.”

Alyss revealed that her mum had benefitted from attending a Women at the Game fixture in the past, saying: “My mum has never looked back since attending one of our previous events.

“She was worried and had always disliked football but she came along to the event and made some friends.

“Now she’s in love with the club, she loves coming and she calls herself the number one fan of the club so it’s fair to say it worked for her.

“We want more of that. Even if you’re in two minds, just do it.

“Come down and give it a go, we’re a friendly team and we want more people so don’t be afraid.”

The event starts at 1pm in the HUB, with free tea/coffee and snacks available.
