National Changing Places Awareness Day

We all like to get out and about and enjoy everything that our area has to offer, including cheering on the Spireites or taking part in the many activities offered at the CFC Community Trust.

For some of us, enjoying the things we love can have challenges which many may not have thought of, however, like having access to the right kind of loo!

There are 250,000 people in the UK who, because of disability, brain injury or age-related ill-health, need changing when they are out and whose needs are not met by standard accessible toilets.

They face a stark choice between staying at home, only going out for a couple of hours at a time, or being changed on a public toilet floor: something which is unhygienic, undignified and unacceptable, as this video illustrates.

Changing Places toilets are large, hygienic toilet facilities specifically designed to overcome these challenges. They feature a ceiling track hoist, a height adjustable changing bench, sink, loo and privacy screen to ensure that people can be changed in comfort and dignity.

At Chesterfield Football Club, we are very proud to have our very own Changing Places facility located just inside the HUB at the rear of the stadium and available for anyone who needs it whenever the building is open.

In fact, CFC were only the second football club in the country to have a Changing Places facility, the first being at Preston North End, beating every Premier League club in having this vital provision!

So, if you, or someone you know, needs Changing Places, why not pay us a visit and explore everything we have to offer from enjoying a matchday, taking part in pan disability sports clubs, enjoying Chester’s Den or just popping in for a cuppa. We’d love to see you!
