Chester’s Christmas Toy Appeal receives boost

Chester’s Christmas Toy Appeal received a boost when supporter Phil Tooley, through his company Spirecross Limited, donated six huge bags of toys bought at town centre toy shop The Entertainer.

Chesterfield FC’s marketing manager Bridget Ball set up the shopping spree with The Entertainer’s manager Leanne, enabling Phil and his trusted advisor, six-year-old granddaughter Philippa Tooley-Brown, together with Chester the Field Mouse himself, to browse the shop to choose a wide range of toys for the appeal.

Phil said: “When I saw the details of the appeal, I immediately felt it was something worth supporting. I’ve been extremely fortunate that I’ve been able to keep working throughout this terrible year, so donating for this cause was something that seemed perfect for Spirecross.

“Pippa was delighted to act as my advisor and she was incredibly excited when Chester managed to leave his den to help with the shopping trolleys.

“The appeal has been incredibly successful and we’re pleased to have helped it along a little. I just hope that families that have struggled this year take up the offer to help boost their own Christmas festivities.”

The toys will be handed out to children in need in our community on Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22.

Any parents in the area who are struggling to purchase Christmas presents for their children should email bridgetball@chesterfield-fc.co.uk, stating the age and gender of the child the toys are for. A phone number is also required.

A collection slot will then be allocated to enable appropriate social distancing, so please ensure that it is possible to collect on either of those dates.

Spirecross Limited works with innovative companies to ensure they can access the government’s Research & Development Tax Credits scheme.
