In partnership with Derbyshire FA, we are hosting a Junior Football Leaders Award for girls, as part of our Premier League Girls Project. We are looking to encourage more girls to take up coaching in the future.

This is an excellent opportunity and introduction to coaching for any girl who plays football or is looking to start coaching football. We will offer all participants on the course the opportunity to complete the four hours of volunteering at our Spireites School that week, which is required for certification of the course.

The course aims to:

Provide a basic introduction to leadership skills required when involved in football. The course will primarily introduce 4 areas:

  • Assisting football activity sessions (creating a safe learning environment / organising games and an introduction to the basics or FUNdermentals).
  • An introduction to refereeing (preparing to referee / whistle techniques & introduction to ball in / out of play and safety of the players and re-starts to the game).
  • Helping with a team (preparing for the game / warm-up prior to the game and organising and managing players expectations).
  • Different football events ( an introduction to three different formats of competition / using these in a practical setting).

The course is six hours in duration, for certification the candidates must do four hours work volunteering.

A place on the course is £20 and to book a place onto the Junior Football Leaders Awards, please go to our Soccer School page.
