World Suicide Prevention Day fixture

Saturday’s Chesterfield v Cheltenham Town fixture is being dedicated to World Suicide Prevention Day.

With initiatives such as the A Spire Right programme, Senior Spireites and Buddy Buddy, the Trust provides safe areas for those in vulnerable situations to collaborate within communities and feel welcomed by the organisation’s staff.

The Knit & Natter group have been working hard behind the scenes to create hundreds of hand-knitted hearts that will be distributed around the SMH Group Stadium with supportive messages.

Chesterfield FC Community Trust work closely in conjunction with Derbyshire County Council to help improve mental health in the area, as well as supporting those who are struggling.

At today’s game, there are 30 volunteers from organisations such as Samaritans and Derbyshire County Council, who are handing out ‘Z cards’, detailing helpline numbers as well as outlining the Spireites’ fixtures for the season.
