This Suicide Prevention Day, the Trust is reflecting on the vital work provided within the community over the last 12 months.
With initiatives such as the A Spire Right programme, Senior Spireites and Buddy Buddy, the Trust provides safe areas for those in vulnerable situations to collaborate within communities and feel welcomed by the organisation’s staff.
Speaking earlier this year, one participant in the A Spire Right group, said: “When I first started coming to the group, I felt a bit nervous, but the staff have helped me feel like I’m at home now.”
Another participant said: “Everyone is treated equally, which helps with my anxiety levels, and support is offered both in and outside of the group.
“We do a lot of exercise in the group which is good for my mental health and there is a really good team environment within the group.”
Chesterfield FC Community Trust work closely in conjunction with Derbyshire County Council to help improve mental health in the area, as well as supporting those who are struggling.
Chesterfield’s home fixture against Cheltenham Town on September 21 is being dedicated to Suicide Prevention Day.
At the game, there will be 30 volunteers from organisations such as Samaritans and Derbyshire County Council, who will be handing out ‘Z cards’, detailing helpline numbers as well as outlining the Spireites’ fixtures for the season.
