The Trust are once again planning to deliver numerous tournaments and events around Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.
As the academic year has just begun, Trust staff are busier than ever organising school sports tournaments and events for local school children.
Rob Stevenson, who has taken on the role of organising events at the Trust, said: “We’re planning on running tournaments for all the schools that are on our school sports partnership.
“We want to make sure we can offer competitions that provide fun and competitiveness for all ages, while also ensuring that we have events for both boys and girls.
“We’re also hoping to run these across all age groups to get as many different children as we possibly can involved within football and sport through a direct impact of the Trust’s work.”
Rob also gave us an insight into some upcoming tournaments that the Trust are running, saying: “We’ve got quite a bit coming up over the next few weeks.
“We have the Premier League Primary Stars programme which run a national competition and the National League Trust also run a national competition which we’re aiming to qualify some of our teams for.
“The first is our girls’ competition that is coming up on October 14. We’ve already maxed out our numbers for that, which is incredible. We have ten schools already booked in that will compete in a football tournament at Staveley Miners Welfare.”
Rob said he was very pleased with the number of schools already booked on.
“It’s been so fast, we put out the email last week and we’re already full,” he said.
“Some of the girls that are coming have never took part in anything like this before so it’s a great opportunity for them. Especially with the Lionesses’ success this summer, it’s really pushed the sport out to younger girls.
“It will be a great experience for them, it should be a great opportunity for all of them to have some fun while enjoying sport.”
Rob also expressed that he’s excited about the future. He said: “I’m so proud of what we’re doing.
“The intent overall is to give children these opportunities that creates pathways for them to eventually come to more sessions and get involved with more sport and more of what we offer.
“I’m really excited for our future plans and I can’t wait to see what we can do.”
