The opening of the new Clowne Hub for the Chesterfield FC Junior & Youth Academy has been announced, in partnership with Bolsover District Council.
Located to expand the academy’s reach, this will provide the club with an opportunity to broaden its horizons, reaching more up-and-coming talent from the age of 16 to 18.
Bolsover District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor David Downes said: “We are expanding our facilities here at Go! Active and are delighted to welcome Chesterfield FC on board in what we see as an exciting partnership.
“This is a hugely innovative arrangement that will not only help provide a platform for young people to be part of a professional club set-up, but give them the opportunity to receive sports-based further education and hopefully enable them to progress through the ranks of the club.
“Most youngsters dream of becoming a professional footballer and this could be the first step to producing the next Pele, Rooney or Kane, so we are doing all we can to provide the facilities and opportunities to make their dream come true.”
Justin Tellus, the academy’s head of recruitment, said: “It is a very exciting time for the club, with more chances to recruit players into our ever-growing academy.”
An engagement evening will take place on Saturday, May 14, on the new state of the art 3G pitch and Go! Active facilities.
Interested players can book a place on the engagement evening by emailing academy@spireitestrust.org.uk.
