Spireites help police deliver anti-knife crime messages

Derbyshire Police recently worked with the Spireites and Derby County to display anti-knife crime messages at their grounds.

We know that some people are still intent on carrying knives and bladed weapons and we all need to work together to prevent the tragedies that his can cause.

Derbyshire Police’s knife crime lead, Superintendent Sarah McAughtrie, said: “We thank Derby County and Chesterfield FC for their help in delivering the message of just how dangerous it can be to carry a knife.

“Our intelligence shows that for too many people, especially the younger members of our community, picking a knife up is becoming a habit.

“We are determined to work hard to prevent the heartache that the consequences of this can bring, not only to the victims, but also the families of all those involved.

“We can’t do this together and need all of us to become part of the solution, if seeing these messages made just one person think of the consequences of carrying a knife and then prevented a death or serious injury to them or someone else, it was worthwhile.”
