Teams represent Trust in Premier League Kicks tournament

Last Sunday, Chesterfield FC Community Trust took two teams to Leicester City Community Trust to take part in the Premier League Kicks 15th anniversary tournament, with teams from Mansfield, Port Vale, Stoke City, Northampton Town, Derby County, Notts County, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City themselves.

Our players came together from across the Trust’s PL Kicks sessions, including the Kickabout and Roller Disco. The girls U14 team kept four clean sheets in eight games, with Issy being a superstar in goal. The boys U16 side were pipped to the title by Nottingham Forest on goal difference, but won the tournament’s Fair Play Award, voted for by all other teams in the tournament.

Both sides did us proud, representing Chesterfield FC and the Premier League Kicks values – being respectful and trying their best.

PL Kicks lead coach James Aspinall said: “It was a fantastic effort by both teams, the way they played and behaved was a wonderful representation of what the PL Kicks programme is all about.

“The project aims to give opportunities to youngsters across Chesterfield to take part in sports sessions for free, to make sport accessible to everyone. This was a great reward for the participants who have been regularly attending our sessions and shown enthusiasm, respect and team-work throughout.”
