After an uncertain and distanced end to the 2019/2020 academic year during lockdown, we were delighted to be able to safely provide our popular Spireites Soccer School at St Mary’s High School.
With one-way systems, temperature checks, socially distanced lunch breaks, outdoor delivery and PLENTY of hand sanitising(!), the camp provided children with a much needed opportunity to socialise, play games and interact with each other.
We sent out our post-session feedback form to parents and were pleased to hear the following:
100% of children enjoyed our sessions.
92% thought our coaching was excellent, with 8% thinking it was good.
100% said any queries or issues were dealt with in a timely manner.
100% of parents said that their children felt safe and that our Covid measures were good.
One parent commented: “Both my daughters were reluctant to attend as they have no interest in football (they are both dancers).
“However, credit to your team, they absolutely adored the sessions, have found a love for football and the other team sports you offered, made new friends and grown in confidence. Thank you to all involved.”
Another said, “The meet and greet in the morning was amazing; Alex was welcomed by name and I was absolutely delighted that he was met with such enthusiasm and kindness.
“Every time he has been dropped off, I have been re-assured and very happy with the care shown. Alex has been very positive about the sessions and I know he has enjoyed the interaction with all the coaches; they all seem really amazing people and I have every confidence in them.”
Keith Jackson, head of sport and activities, said: “We felt it was important to provide summer activities under the circumstances. Whilst they had to be different and strict safety measures were in place, the key themes of fun and friendship were always there.
“Of course, we were always adapting to new guidelines and doing our best to keep things ‘normal’ and we did worry about how it would go, however the feedback we’ve received from parents, both from our mixed and girls camps, have just reinforced that it was absolutely the right decision to go ahead.”
“The Spireites Soccer School will be returning in October and we are already looking forward to it.”
