Appeal to Business Community re Camp Inspire

Chesterfield FC Community Trust’s innovative Camp Inspire programme has proved to be a major success over the last few months.

Camp Inspire is a Covid recovery programme to prepare 4-17-year-olds for a return to school next month. It is based around the five ways to wellbeing with the primary aim being to improve the physical health, social wellbeing and emotional intelligence of students, delivering various activities in a safe and secure environment.

Scott Atkinson, the Community Trust’s head of education and wellbeing, explained: “Camp Inspire is open to all, including disadvantaged children who would not normally be able to access this type of provision.

“The inequality gap is growing due to the pandemic and these are arguably the children that need the most help to bridge the gap. The response has been phenomenal and we have receive some excellent feedback from participants and their families.”

The success of the scheme, which was highlighted in a recent feature on ITV Calendar, has led to a demand for places which cannot currently be met due to a funding gap.

Scott has appealed to the local business community to help out. “We are currently having to turn away worthy families who would really benefit from the scheme. I would urge any business who would be willing to fund a place for a disadvantaged young person to get in touch with me.” he said.
