Chesterfield MP Praises Camp Inspire

Toby Perkins MP has praised Camp Inspire after visiting the HUB recently to take a look at the Community Trust’s pioneering new programme. Camp Inspire was introduced as a Covid response to help youngsters prepare for a return to school.

Toby said: “I have been incredibly impressed with this scheme and how quickly it has been set up. It cannot be understated how important this has already become for the children who have been denied the interaction with peers they would normally take for granted and as a respite for parents.

“Many have grown in confidence already and the programme that Scott and the team have created is well structured, providing an inspiring service to many families including some that could otherwise be at crisis point.

“Children have been off school for such a long time because of lockdown and returning in September will be a nerve-racking experience for many. Camp Inspire is helping many children get back into a routine.

The scheme helps many children who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or difficult circumstances, alongside others who aren’t.

“I really hope funding can be found to provide this fantastic programme for the whole of the six weeks and for the families who want to use it,” added Toby.

The sessions run from 8.30am to 5.30pm with early drop-off and late pick-up available and cost £2 per half hour.

Bookings can be made by emailing wellbeing@spireitestrust.org.uk or phoning 01246 925115.

Anyone interested in applying for a funded place should contact their child’s school or key worker in the first instance.
