Deadline Extended for Football and Education Programme Applications

The deadline has been extended until this Friday for applications to join Chesterfield FC Community Trust’s Football and Education Programme for 16-18-year-olds.

Those who take part in the programme will study at Outwood Academy (Newbold) or at the Proact Stadium in one of the three educational pathways being offered:

  • BTEC Level 2 in Sport
  • BTEC Level 3 extended diploma in Sport
  • A-levels

Training will also take place three or four times a week and there will be games in the U19 National Football Youth League against the likes of Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle United.

There are opportunities to progress into semi-pro football, scholarships, further education or a career. With men’s and women’s teams, it is an exciting post-16 option for all.

Scott Atkinson, the Trust’s head of education and wellbeing, said: “This year’s programme promises to be bigger and better than ever with the addition of options to study BTEC Level 2 or A-levels to our existing BTEC Level 3 course. This is alongside our first women’s programme which reflects the growth that’s been seen in women’s football over the last few years.

“Our first batch of students that started with us in 2018 will be completing their course this summer and have a wider variety of future pathways they are progressing into, including degree programmes, football scholarships in the USA and jobs in sport.”
