A young member of the Chesterfield FC Community Trust team had a very special 16th Birthday surprise when two Chesterfield FC stars came and presented him with a match worn shirt.
Luke Briddon spends two days per week at the Trust as part of our Alternative Education Provision. A year 11 student at St Mary’s Catholic High School, Luke has always big a big fan of Laurence’s, a former pupil at the same School. Laurence said, “I had a lovely afternoon presenting a shirt to Luke on his 16th Birthday, I want to wish him a happy Birthday and hope he has a great day”.
The pair were joined by Sam Wedgbury who spent time with Luke’s family on the day and said, “it was a pleasure to spend Luke’s birthday with him. He’s a great lad and really inspiring, we are lucky to have loyal fans who care about the Club, they are with us through thick and thin and personally I haven’t been able to help on the field but I will do as much as I can away from the pitch”.
Luke’s Mum Gaye praised the players for taking time out to help Luke celebrate a Birthday he wouldn’t forget, “thank you for all the trouble everyone has gone to today, Luke loves coming “to work” at the Trust and today was just the icing on the cake”.
Luke said, “It’s amazing, the shirt fits me too so I’ve worn the same shirt as Laurence Maguire now. He’s said he will say hello to me at games so he’s my mate. It’s been brilliant and I can’t wait to show it to my Sister and my Dad”.
