On Monday 8th October Chesterfield FC Community Trust and 5 of our partner schools were invited down to St Georges Park to watch the England Under 21 squad train ahead of their crucial U21 European Qualifying match against Andorra at the Proact Stadium.

We took 30 children in total from 5 of our partner schools, Newbold Church School, Walton Holymoorside, Killamarsh St Giles, Staveley Juniors and Mary Swanwick who all took part in a training session delivered by our coaches and a mini tournament ahead of the Under 21 training session on the David Beckham Pitch at St Georges Park, Eventually won by Newbold Church School.

NCS Headteacher Kerry Marsh said “The children from NCS thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic opportunity to visit and play at St.George’s Park, all as a result of our partnership with Spireites Trust. The whole event was extremely well organised, the highlight of the day of course was meeting the under 21 England Squad.  Certainly an experience of a lifetime.  Thank you CFC Community Trust!”

After the tournament ended we were taken to the England Training Pitch with Exclusive pitch side access to watch Premier League stars like Man City’s Phil Foden, Fulhams Ryan Sessegnon and Liverpools Dominic Solanke being put their paces by England U21 Manager Aidy Boothroyd, a truly unique experience for all involved!

A parent of on the children thanked the Community Trust saying both her children “had a brilliant time”  and the Community Trust “really were superstars” for organising such a fantastic event.

All the children involved received 4 tickets each to the England v Andorra game, which the Under 21s went on to win 7-0 to confirm qualification for next years championships.
